I absolutely love sharing the experience of birth! Through the 50+ births I've attended, I've experienced a variety of situations; VBAC, adoption, stillborn, cesarean birth, un-medicated or epidural, premature and over-due babies, large babies, first babies, and fourth babies! (Phew! Starting to sound a little like Dr. Seuss there!) I personally have had a VBAC, 2 cesareans, 1 medicated and 1 non-medicated birth. I also grieved the loss of a son at 16 weeks. So that's the "fine print" so-to-speak of who I am... now to give you a glimpse into the personality behind a doula who really does take your birth experience seriously, but life; well, not so much! Aside from raising the 5 most amazing kiddos and being married for 20 years to the same dude... (high five, thank you very much)... I'll let you in on a few pieces of info you may wish later you didn't know... First off, I'm funny. Really. My kids say "mom you're soo funny" all the time. Then they walk away muttering something about "looking"... but whatever, they say I'm funny.... I'm a HUGE label reader!! If it says anything like "iron" or "dry clean only" it will NOT be permitted in my house. Who would subject themselves to such things! Sheesh! The nerve of some people! I drink a chocolate milk every day. In fact, I can tell time by it. I crave it around 2:00 every afternoon. Unless I'm napping. Wait. I have 5 kids, I don't nap. I do however hide Pop Tarts under my pillow. There are 7 of us, they only have 3 packs in a box... you do the math, I'm just preventing a war. And the grumpies. I laugh when people trip. I laugh harder when I trip. Did I mention I laugh a LOT?! I smile when babies are born, when my kids bring me a cup of hot mocha, when my hubby goes to Costco for me and when God answers a prayer I was too faithless to even pray. I cry when babies are born, when my kids bring me a cup of mocha when I've been less than kind, when my hubby shows me the receipt from Costco and when God answers a prayer I was too faithless to pray. If I had my life to live over, instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle. ~Erma Bombeck
