Babies are born on their birthdays, not their due dates! ~Barbara Harper

"...I had prayed for this specific birth, and my birthing plan, from the day I found out I was pregnant. It went exactly as I had prayed and I know that Shannon really helped that come about through her comfort and guidance during labor." ~ Denise ~a successful hospital VBAC |
From a new dad: "Thank you for everything! We really couldn't have done it without you! You opened my eyes to how wonderful and not scary birthing is and can be. It was so cool! I'm so stoked!" ~B.R. |
This is what my support looks like, but let's sit down and customize it just for you!
*Two prenatal visits.
During these visits we talk through your concerns, goals, fears and questions. We will
discuss and write your birth plan. We will talk through your desires and expectations. I will go over hands
on comfort measures for your partner to assist you with. My goal for this time together is to get to
know each other and to build unity as a team. While I do have specific topics to cover, my priority
is to cover any topic you feel necessary to go into labor with confidence.
*24/7 availability
via phone, text, email or in person if needed.
*Pre and post Dr. visit consults.
Going to appointments can seem tedious and I can help you formulate the questions
to ask, and when to ask what so they are productive. After your appointment, I love to hear how it went
and help you process anything of concern or that you didn't fully understand.
*You decide at which point in labor you'd like me to arrive.
Most couples have me assist them with laboring at home while others choose to have me meet them
at the hospital. Of course for a home birth I will come when you need my support. If a transfer becomes
necessary, I will go with you and continue supporting you at the hospital.
*Assist you with non-medical comfort measures and creating your desired atmosphere.
I will encourage dad in ways to support you. I will help you understand any procedures being done or
decisions for your care, and any interventions being suggested. While nurses are in and out of the
room, and dads can get anxious and distracted, I will remain focused on caring for you.
*If you are having a planned cesarean birth,
There is still a benefit in having a birth plan and I can help you write one. I will wait with you prior to
surgery, offering relaxation and massage.(usually hand and shoulder). Depending on hospital policy*, I will
stay with you during the entire surgery. I will stay with you through recovery and assist you in breastfeeding
and post-surgery comfort measures. *If I am not allowed in the OR, I will wait with your extended family
and be available for any questions they have and help them relax and relieve anxiety.
*Please contact me for the fee adjustment for a planned cesarean
*Immediate post partum support. I will stay with you at least 1 hour after delivery. I'll be available if needed for
breastfeeding assistance, taking pictures, calming massage, finding food for dad, you name it!
*Follow up visit within the first two weeks following delivery.
*I want to be there for you in the way you want and need!
If there is another way I can serve you and help your labor and delivery be as pleasant as
possible, please feel free to bring it up!
Please contact me for a free consultation and to introduce yourself and let me know
what your specific birth needs and desires are. I customize my care and my cost based
on your unique situation. I offer payment plans, can accept credit cards through PayPal
and will barter as well. My average fee at this time is $750.
My childbirth preparation class fees vary and can be found here; depending on the type
of class you need. I offer private, group, refresher and last minute crash course.
Please keep in mind I only commit to a limited number of births per month in order to
ensure my availability for you, so don't wait to contact me!
